Das Wall Street Journal berichtet soeben, dass sich Google auf ein Kopf an Kopf Rennen mit Apple im elektronischen Büchermarkt dem iBookstore einlassen wird. Ab Ende Juni, bzw Anfang Juli begibt sich Google mit dem eigenen eBook-Service namens „Google Editions“ auf Kriegsfuß mit Apple und deren iBooks.
Google says its new service–called Google Editions–will allow users to buy digital copies of books they discover through its book search service. It will also allow book retailers to sell Google Editions on their own sites, taking the bulk of the revenue. Google has yet to release details about pricing and which publishers are expected to participate.
Auf dem iPhone und iPod Touch werden die iBooks von Apple ab Veröffentlichung des OS 4.0 verfügbar sein.
